Direct to eCommerce research — Where do eCommerce fanatics live in the Czech Republic

Fans of Direct to eCommerce probably know the tagline — Direct to eCommerce, the number one place for eCommerce fanatics. I’m aware that fanatics is quite a strong of a word. However, it gets more attention.

So, this article will be about where in the Czech Republic do eCom fans live, not fanatics. #clickbait :)

So, where do eCom fans live?

Around 320 000 people are sincerely interested in eCommerce in Czechia. This is equivalent to 3 % of the country’s population. It isn’t a lot. Apparently, eCommerce hasn’t gained enough popularity like for example, Game of Thrones.

Most of the eCommerce fans are in Prague (28,4 %) and in the South-Moravian region (11,7 %), as you might expect. Those two regions represent more than a third of the whole eCom fans group (40,1 %).

Direct to eCommerce research — In what region is the most of eCommerce fans

I’ll be honest with you. My hometown Ostrava disappointed me. You can find there only around 30 000 eCom fans. I was expecting much more.

Ostrava is not the Mecca of eCommerce
Ostrava, not the Mecca of eCommerce

Local eCommerce companies as Queens, Bidding Tools, Shopsys, or Růžový Slon have a long journey of spreading love in eCommerce ahead of them.

Almost 7 people from 100 are fans of eCommerce in Prague

The density of eCommerce fans is similar across all regions and is close to the country’s average - 3 %.

Direct to eCommerce study — Density of eCommerce fans in Czechia

It’s interesting that the Central Bohemian Region, the fourth-biggest hub of eCom people, has the lowest density (1–2 %). Around 24 000 people can find each other around the Prague region. However, they will look for each other for a long time.

The most significant concentration of eCommerce fans is in Prague (6–7 %), where almost every seventh person belongs to the team eCom.

Prague, Brno, Olomouc, Znojmo and Uherské Hradiště…paradise for eCom fanatics

Only five cities have the density over 6 %. These include Prague (6,8 %), Uherské Hradiště (6,7 %), Brno (6,3 %), Znojmo (6,2 %) and Olomouc (6,1 %). So, you know where to build a house if you love eCommerce.

Direct to eCommerce analysis — the density of eCommerce fans per district in Czechia

On the other hand, all eCommerce fans should avoid the town named Semily. The city is beautiful, but the eCom people density there is the lowest in the Czech Republic.

The eCommerce person could find at least 2 000 friends in all capital cities of all regions. Nevertheless, only Prague, Brno and Ostrava has the community of more than 10 000 eCom fans.

Takeaways

  • The eCom still isn’t a religion — Only around 3 % of the total Czech population has serious interest in eCommerce.
  • Prague and Brno are at the top as always — You can find the most of the eCommerce fans in Brno and the capital city.
  • Consistent eCom fans density across regions — Outside Prague (6–7 %), South Bohemia (3–4 %), and Central Bohemia (1–2 %), the density of eCom people is within 2–3%.

The popularity of eCommerce is growing year on year. Still not even close to a mainstream interest tho. Will Direct to eCommerce change it?

The data source for the number of eCommerce fans is Facebook MAUs who are interested in eCommerce (10/2019). Density is calculated as the ratio of eCommerce fans to the total population of the area. The data is not 100%, as it does not include the non-users of Facebook. Only the largest cities of each district are included in the district data.
